At the conclusion of the first 3-year study cycle of Likutei Torah this Simchas Torah, excitement is building for the launch of the second cycle beginning this Parshas Bereishis.

This unique program, which makes the goal of learning all of Likutei Torah practical and achievable for all, has already transformed the learning of many Anash and Shluchim.

Rabbonim, shluchim, and mashpiim shared their reflections on this milestone and the great impact of this initiative:

Rabbi Itche Meir Gurary, veteran Mashpia in Tomchei Temimim Montreal for over fifty years:

“Since the time Likutei Torah was first published, Chassidim learned the weekly Chassidishe Parsha of Torah Ohr and Likutei Torah. The Rebbe strengthened this practice, encouraging his Chassidim and shluchim to learn it every week. If one cannot learn all the weekly maamarim, he should at least learn some of them.

“This cycle, learning some of the weekly maamarim and completing the entire sefer in three years, is a wonderful idea and a great zechus. For anyone unable to complete the whole parsha each week, this is a golden opportunity to still learn and finish it all.”

Rabbi Chaim Wolosov, Shliach to Sharon, MA – renowned for his dedication to teaching and for recording shiurim on the entire Torah Ohr and Likutei Torah, available at TorahRecordings.com:

“Torah Ohr and Likutei Torah are the foundational seforim of Chassidus Chabad, described by the Rebbe as the ‘Torah Sheba’al Peh of Chassidus.’ The Rebbe strongly encouraged Chassidim to study each week’s Chassidishe Parsha—the maamarim corresponding to the weekly Torah portion—emphasizing that even if difficult, one should at least review them, and ideally complete the entire section.

“Learning Likutei Torah not only deepens our connection to Chassidus but, as the Rebbe stated, hastens the Geulah. The new 3-year study cycle provides a practical framework for all to join, ensuring steady progress and meaningful engagement with these teachings.”

Rabbi Nisson Dovid Dubov, Shliach in London, England – noted author of many works on Chassidus in English, and teacher of Likutei Torah shiurim available on Chabad.org:

“One of the instructions given to the shluchim at the Kinus Hashluchim of 5752 was to learn the Chassidishe Parsha in Torah Ohr and Likutei Torah. Fortunate are they who are able to complete the entire parsha. For those who cannot, there is a suggestion to follow a three-year cycle by which one will cover both seforim. This will certainly enrich those who take on such a commitment. Yasher koach to Rabbi Katz for this suggestion.”

Rabbi Michoel Seligson, Mashpia in Oholei Torah, and author of numerous seforim including the classic Mafteach to Sichos Kodesh:

“Likutei Torah, referred to as the Chassidishe Parsha, is considered ‘the wine of Toras HaChassidus,’ the Oral Law of Chassidus. In 5715 and again in 5725, the Rebbe urged Chassidim to study Torah Ohr (Bereishis–Shmos) and Likutei Torah (Vayikra–Devorim) on a weekly basis.

“Just as with the Rambam study, there are one-year and three-year cycles. To accommodate many who are unable to complete it in one year, a calendar was created allowing one to finish in three years. This is very appealing and an encouragement that enables a person to complete both seforim from beginning to end.”

Rabbi Chay Amar, Shliach to Golden Beach, Florida – beloved for his engaging shiurim:

“The Rebbe taught us that in order to truly prepare for the coming of Moshiach, we must be wholly bound to the Torah—including the entire Penimiyus HaTorah—by learning all of Likutei Torah and Torah Ohr. I once completed this in the span of a year—it was very difficult, but the change was extraordinary. Everything in my life shifted.

“Now, the opportunity exists to complete Likutei Torah in three years. Connecting daily to this seminal work of Chassidus will illuminate your neshamah, strengthen your inner essence, and open the channels of blessing in ways you have never experienced before.”

Rabbi Levi Gelb, author of Torah Ohr/Likutei Torah Hamevuar:

“Learning the entire Torah Ohr and Likutei Torah can be very challenging. Splitting it into a three-year cycle is a fantastic idea to make completing the entire sefer truly achievable. This sefer is the foundation for all concepts discussed by the later Rebbeim, so going through the entire thing is invaluable for learning Chassidus.”
