Manchester Community Hosts Joint Siyum HaRambam
More than 300 people filled the hall at Stenecourt for an uplifting Siyum HaRambam, hosted jointly by the Chabad shuls of Manchester.
More than 300 people filled the hall at Stenecourt this past Sunday, 14 Shevat (1 February), for a moving and uplifting Siyum HaRambam, hosted jointly by the Chabad shuls Adass Yisroel, B’ohr Chabad, Kahal Chassidim, The Minyan and Young Lubavitch.
The evening was further graced by the presence of numerous distinguished Rabbonim from across the wider kehilla, who came to show their respect for Torah and for those completing this significant learning milestone.
The event marked a triple siyum for the thousands worldwide completing the study of the entire corpus of Halachos of Torah Shebaal Peh through the works of the Rambam. Participants celebrated the completion of all three study tracks established under the Lubavitcher Rebbe’s Rambam learning initiative: the three perokim a day cycle, the one perek a day cycle, and the daily Sefer HaMitzvos cycle.
The atmosphere in the packed hall reflected both the achievement of completing a demanding learning programme and the excitement of immediately beginning again. The Siyum itself was made by Rabbi S. Lent, Rov of Young Lubavitch, who spoke about the unity created when Jews across the globe learn the same sections of Torah each day, regardless of background or level.
Rabbi Mendel Cohen of Beis Menachem delivered heartfelt words of inspiration and chizuk, emphasising how the Rambam’s clear and structured presentation of halachah makes the entirety of Torah Shebaal Peh accessible, organised and practical for daily life. He highlighted the Rebbe’s vision that every Jew can — and should — have a connection to the whole Torah.
The formal start of the new cycle was led by Rabbi D. Weinman, Rov of B’ohr Chabad, who encouraged participants not only to recommit themselves but to bring others along, stressing that consistency in daily learning transforms both the individual and the home.
Guest speaker Rabbi N. D. Dubov, Director of Chabad Wimbledon and renowned lecturer and author of 16 books, delivered an address that deeply resonated with the crowd. He spoke about the unique role of the Rambam cycle in uniting Klal Yisrael through a shared framework of learning, describing it as a living expression of Jewish unity through Torah. His practical and relatable approach inspired many in attendance to take on joining one of the study tracks for the new cycle.
The simchah of the occasion was heightened by Yeshivah bochurim who brought lively music to the event, sparking spirited dancing that quickly spread through the hall, with participants of all ages joining together in celebration of Torah.
Adding a special highlight to the evening, a unique Rebbe Dollar was presented by Rabbi P. Chein, shliach to Cheadle, and raffled among all participants — a meaningful memento that further connected the siyum to the Rebbe’s encouragement of Rambam learning.
The evening stood as a powerful demonstration of communal achdus and commitment to Torah learning, with participants leaving not only having celebrated a major milestone, but energised to begin the journey anew.
What a powerful show of achdus! Imagine the nachas the Rebbe has from such an event! And look at the turnout! May all the brochos of ברכנו אבינו כולנו כאחד materialize for the community as a whole and for each Anash family in particular.
