A new maamar, delivered by the Tzemach Tzedek on erev rosh chodesh Elul 5596/1836 has now been published from the manuscript by Reb Akiva Shavrick from Baltimore.
What is interesting about this maamar is that it was recited in the room next to the Alter Rebbe’s Ohel while the Tzemach Tzedek was there visiting his grandfather’s Ohel. The maamar was transcribed by the famed chossid Reb Hillel Paritcher, who also added notes with his own explanations.
The maamar is based on the posuk Ki Ner Mitzva. It discusses how the world, which is a result of Hashem’s mercy, is a descent for Hashem, and therefore requires us to encourage Hashem to “remember” and pay attention to it. Yet, although our world is so low, it is for the sake of an ascent, for through performing mitzvos in this world, we access the highest spiritual lights.
