The 45th Siyum Harambam was celebrated in style in London, England. Over 150 people from across the city joined the event, hosted by Heichal Menachem, the Anash Shul in Golders Green, London, under the leadership of Rabbi Gedalia Lieberman.
With a fully catered meal served, the Siyum took place on the night of Chof Beis Shevat, in honor of the Yom Hillula of the Rebbetzin. It was a truly uplifting event, bringing together many from across the community, giving real chizuk to those who study the daily Rambam.
In true achdus, all Rabbonei Anash in London attended the event, with Dayan Levi Yitzchok Raskin, Rov of Anash in Stamford Hill, and Rabbi Menachem Yunik, Rov of Beis Gavriel in Hendon, delivering divrei brocho at the start of the event.
As has almost become a tradition in London, Rabbi Mendel Gordon, Mashpia in Yeshiva Gedola, chaired the event. Rabbi Gordon is known for his tremendous koch in all the Rebbe’s inyonim, especially in limmud Harambam, and it was truly fitting to honour him with completing the 45th cycle of study. In his special eloquent way, Rabbi Gordon gave a powerful speech on the final halachos of Rambam.
Rabbi Brendan Stern, a Sydney native who is now the associate Rabbi at Hendon United Synagogue, was honoured with starting the 46th cycle. In an extremely clear and informative speech, Rabbi Stern shared insights into the hakdomo and the first few perakim of Rambam.
Rabbi Gershon Dunner, a Rov in a local Shul in Golders Green called Torat Moshe, delivered an encouraging talk on how to keep the momentum of daily study of Torah.
Harav Shmelke Biderman, scion of the Lelov dynasty and Rov of the Lelover Chassidim in Stamford Hill, gave a fiery speech, peppered with sippurei tzadikim and gentle humor. Rav Biderman spoke of the greatness of the Rebbe and the derech the Rebbe taught us, how everything the Rebbe taught is going strong until today, and even stronger than ever before.
After benching, Rabbi Yunik, who had the tremendous zechus of serving in the Rebbe and Rebbetzin’s home as a bohcur, shared stories and anecdotes from his time in President Street and 770.
Musical entertainment was beautifully played by Hatomi Sruli Vogel, and niggnunim sung by Rabbi Shmuel Zajac.
