London Kollel Aims Higher

Members of the Lubavitch Kolel of London under Dayan Levi Raskin will be flying to Eretz Yisroel for Rabbanut certification.

Following years of intense learning and tests by local Rabbonim, yungeleit from the Lubavitcher Kollel in London will be traveling to Eretz Yisroel to take part in the thorough Rabbinic examinations administered by “Heichal Shlomo,” the Israeli Chief Rabbinate’s semicha authority.

The Kollel was started four years ago in memory of Rabbi Nachman Sudak o”h, the late Head Shliach to Great Britain.

Under the leadership of the Rosh Kollel, Dayan Levi Yitzchak Raskin, Rov of the Lubavitch community in North London, yungeleit follow an organized curriculum for the advanced learning of practical Halochoh.

A unique feature of this Kollel is the hands-on application of the topics being learned, through regular discussions with Dayan Raskin, in which he shares challenging questions put forward to him by Shluchim around the world.

In addition to their own learning, time is set aside in the mornings and evenings for learning with others. Over one hundred members of the local and broader community have weekly chavrusos with or attend weekly shiurim arranged by the Yungerleit,

Boruch Hashem, all graduates of the first cycle of the Kollel have successfully been assigned positions of Shlichus across London and beyond.

This year saw a new group of yungeleit joining the Kollel, all of whom have been recognized for their strong commitment to their studies.

During the year, yungeleit were tested by various Rabbonim and some are now travelling to Eretz Yisroel to take part in the tests of “Heichal Shlomo.”

The Kollel is currently open to accept a limited number of additional applicants to start either after Pesach or in Elul. Interested parties should email [email protected]
