London Celebrates Rosh Chodesh Kislev

200 Anash and Bochurim attended the annual Rosh Chodesh Kislev farbrengen at the Lubavitch Yeshiva Ketana of London, with guest speaker Rabbi Yitzchok Klyne.

Thursday night, eve of Rosh Chodesh Kislev, the annual event commemorating Rosh Chodesh Kislev was held in the Lubavitch Yeshiva Ketana of London.

200 members of Anash, bochurim and members of the general London Jewish community flocked to the lavish Seudah, which was elegantly prepared and arranged by the Shluchim of the Yeshivah Gedolah.

As people entered they were greeted with the beautiful sounds of niggunim being played live by bochurim in the yeshiva, Yossi Hertz and Mendel Slutzkin, and as they sat down to eat some hamotzi with dips, the official program began.

Opening remarks were heard followed by Rabbi Moshe Zavdi who led the recital of the Rebbe’s Kapitel of Tehillim.

Rosh Yeshiva and Mara D’asrah of northwest London Rabbi Yitzchak Meir Hertz then gave words of blessing to the crowd, enthralling the crowd with Divrei Torah and words of chizzuk.

The crowd was then privileged to be uplifted with some inspiring words from Dayan Levi Yitzchok Raskin, who shared memories and directives for the future.

The main course was then served followed by a video presentation showing clips of the Rebbe, glimpses into the scenes that took place during the first Rosh Chodesh Kislev and concluding with a recount by the famed Dr. Ira Weiss.

The crowd was then addressed by Reb Getzel Itzinger, who aroused all gathered to utilize the remaining 70 days to prepare for the great day of Yud Shevat 70 years.

Immediately following, Rabbi Yitzchok Klyne, a guest speaker who came from Manchester, addressed the crowd. The crowd was treated to many inspirational anecdotes and Torah sources to express his message of how Rosh Chodesh Kislev and in general special days are applicable to us today.

The crowd then broke out into a joyous dance, celebrating the Yom Tov of Rosh Chodesh Kislev, the day the Rebbe left 770 for the first time after a massive heart attack.

Dessert was followed by bentching and a farbrengen that continued until the wee hours of the morning.

In honor of the event, a special booklet was printed by the Yeshivah Gedolah Shluchim, entitled “The Rosh Chodesh Megilah”, a summary of the entire story leading up to the Rebbe’s heart attack and the chain of events that followed.

Special thanks to Rabbi Getzel Itzinger and the Shluchim of Yeshivah Gedolah London: Moshe Serebryanski, Avremel Hacohen Cohen, Mendel Gordon, and Shlomo Chaim Kesselman for coordinating this beautiful event.
