L’man Achai Keeps the Flame Burning Beyond the Summer
For most camps, the season ends when the buses roll out. But for Camp L’man Achai, the impact continues long after the summer ends.
For most camps, the season ends when the buses roll out. But for Camp L’man Achai, the impact continues long after the summer ends.
Since the close of its 35th season, Camp L’man Achai has remained deeply engaged with its campers, offering continued guidance and meaningful connection. Staff have been in regular contact with many boys, encouraging their growth in Yiddishkeit and helping them transition from public school into yeshiva.
Several campers are now enrolled in yeshivos across the country, including Bader Hillel High in Milwaukee, a Chabad-run school for boys from non-religious backgrounds, as well as other mainstream yeshivos suited to each camper’s level.
To keep the inspiration going, the staff launched a weekly learning initiative: each week, campers receive a short video sharing a vort on the parsha based on the Chassidic teachings. Campers then submit a brief summary in their own words and are entered into a raffle. The program has been met with enthusiasm and active participation.
Additionally, all the campers received the latest issue of Camp’s newsletter called Currents, highlighting all the happening in a fun and meaningful way.
In-person connections have also continued. A recent Shabbaton in Crown Heights brought together campers from across the tri-state area for an uplifting Shabbos with their counselors. The boys joined local families for Shabbos meals, davened together, and ended the weekend with a spirited Melave Malka.
For the campers of Camp L’man Achai, the summer may be over—but the journey is just beginning.
