Live at 1:00 pm: Bochurim who visit Rabbi Yitzy Hurwitz to daven and learn are unable to do so, due to the coronavirus. Instead, they arranged for a live class with Rabbi YY Jacobson and are inviting all to join.
Since Rabbi Yitzi Hurwitz moved to LA after being diagnosed with ALS, the support that has been supplied by the bochurim and the community has been remarkable.
It started with a minyan for kriah on Mondays and Thursdays, then a weekly shiur with the Rosh Mesivta, Rabbi Farkash, a minyan every shabbos and much more. Recently the community and bochurim have been coming together for kumzitzes and farbrengens.
This year with the advice of Rabbi Zvi Boyarsky, a daily minyan shachris was set up as well as a daily shiur. In addition to all this, the bochurim started arranging guest speakers to come and give a shiur at Rabbi Yitzi’s home. Then suddenly the Coronavirus came to town and all the activities came to a screeching halt.
Yet out of their love for Rabbi Yitzi, the Bochurim arranged a daily video conference with Rabbi Yitzi and invite a guest speaker to entertain them. Whether a shiur on a sicha, telling over their life story, zichronos etc. There have been many fascinating shiurim/discussions. When the bochurim reached out to Rabbi YY Jacobson to give one of these classes, he was enthusiastic about the idea and readily agreed to host a video call. The Bochurim were asked to make this particular video chat open to the public.
