In a moment that underscored the legacy of Florida’s head shliach, Rabbi Avrohom Korf a”h, Congressman Byron Donalds – widely seen as a leading candidate for governor of Florida – paid a condolence visit to the Korf family in Miami.

Donalds, who represents Florida’s 19th Congressional District – including Naples and Fort Myers – is a rising Republican voice in national politics. Born in Brooklyn and raised in Florida, he’s known for his strong conservative stances and growing popularity.

During the visit, Donalds turned to the family and said, “If I want to be the physical governor of Florida, it’s only right that I begin with a visit to the spiritual governor of Florida.”

Rabbi Korf, who passed away last week at age 92, was handpicked by the Rebbe to be the first shliach in Florida. Starting from humble beginnings in 5720 (1960), he built an empire of nearly 400 shluchim, a massive school system, and dozens of mikvaos, transforming Jewish life across the state.
