Thousands gathered outside 770 Eastern Parkway to celebrate the conclusion of the 40th cycle of Rambam study in what the police described as “the largest crowd on the parkway since Gimmel Tammuz, 27 years ago.”

Guest of honor, the Rishon Letzion and Chief Rabbi of Yerushalayim, Harav Shlomo Moshe Amar, shared words in honor of the 40th Siyum and related to the holy day of Gimmel Tammuz.

Rabbi Shmuel Butman, chairman of the International Siyum HaRambam Committee who served as MC for the event, told the audience that according to the NYPD, this was the largest crowd on Eastern Parkway since Gimmel Tammuz 5754.

The Chief Rabbi of Eretz Yisroel, Harav Dovid Lau, sent his blessings.

The Rebbe’s niggunim were sung throughout the evening by chassidic singer Avraham Fried together with Yossi Cohen’s Kapelle choir and the entire crowd, with musical accompaniment by Chony Milecki. There was a special performance by Cheder Ohr Menachem boys chior.

The rabbonim of the Crown Heights Beis Din, Harav Avraham Osdoba and Harav Yosef Yeshaya Braun also shared words of Torah and blessing.

A unique video presentation on the takana of Limud HaRambam, produced specially for this event, was shown exclusively during the Siyum.

Other guest speakers were Harav Berel Lazarshliach and chief rabbi of Russia, and Harav Yosef Hechtshliach and chief rabbi of Eilat.

Representatives of the major chassidic courts participated in the celebration and shared words of blessing from their Rebbes.

Special mementos were distributed to the participants, along with a spectacular study schedule for the new cycle. Participants received a preview edition from the new sefer Otzar HaMelech, which collects the Rebbe’s explanations on Rambam, printed specially for the Siyum, a tadfis from the Pardes Hemelech Rambam by Rabbi Meir Elituv, and the Chayenu for this week.
