‘Lamternshtik’ Thanks CH Families for Coming Out This Chanukah

Building on the exceptional organization and professionalism that Chabad of Sheepshead Bay has cultivated over the years, Lamternshtik took the extra step of reaching out directly to Crown Heights families, inviting them to join Mivtzoim this year.

The results speak for themselves: over 170 children participated in Mivtzoim with their families. For many, it was a meaningful way to put their Chassidishe upbringing into action, filling their homes with the atmosphere of being the Rebbe’s Soldiers. On the other side, the sight of these pure, enthusiastic children was often the deciding factor for many to open their doors and receive a menorah, joining in the celebration of Chanukah. After their visit, the children were rewarded with an ice cream coupon from Sweet Expressions—a well-deserved treat!

This year also saw a breakthrough in the involvement of seminary and high school girls from Crown Heights. Initiated and overseen by Mrs. Mushky Neparstak, over 200 girls from local seminaries and high schools, including Beis Rivka and Bnos Menachem, packed onto buses with menorahs and donuts, spreading the light of Chanukah to hundreds more Yidden.

A special description from one of the girls’ trips reads as follows: “Nina, a former Russian piano teacher who now has Alzheimer’s, was assisted by her Muslim aide to help light the menorah. We sang to her, and she went from lying in bed to sitting up, clapping her hands, and moving her fingers as if she were playing the piano.”

A heartfelt thank you is due to Rabbi Itzik Schwartz, the director of Chabad Outreach of Sheepshead Bay. Rabbi Schwartz’s tireless efforts, leadership, and vision were crucial to the success of this initiative. Additionally, we express our gratitude to Rabbi Cohen, director of Chabad of Sheepshead Bay, for his leadership and unwavering support. A special thank you goes to the two directors of this year’s event, Yanki Meluv and Shneur Rosenberg, for their tireless dedication, as well as to the incredible team they assembled and led.

As well as a thank you to Yankel Katzman for leading the marketing and advertising efforts this year, which significantly raised the bar in terms of publicity and outreach.

Finally, Lamternshtik would like to extend a warm thank you to the families, bochurim, the groups of girls, and all  who joined in this initiative. Their enthusiasm and hard work made all the difference in bringing the light of Chanukah to so many families. Thank you for your dedication and commitment to the success of Mivtzoim!
