After a major storm left the Oholei Torah Yeshivas Kayitz site in Lakewood without electricity and water, a group of bochurim were rerouted to Kingston, PA, where they spent the day learning and recharging.
The change of plans was arranged through R’ Meir Heber, who contacted R’ Mendel Hershkop, director of Beis Moshe Noach and activist in the Anash Kingston community. Thanks to his quick coordination, the bochurim were welcomed to the shul and given a place to learn and rest.
The boys learned with hasmada, joined by menahel Rabbi Shmuly Klyne, and heard a shiur from the shul’s rov, Harav Gedalia Oberlander, on the halachos of hadlakas neiros for Shabbos.
The bochurim also took the opportunity to shower at the beautiful mikvah, which was most appreciated after several days without running water.
Throughout the summer months, Kingston serves as a hub for guests from all backgrounds – Chassidim, Litvishe, and Sefardim – all of whom are deeply impressed by the growing and vibrant community of Torah and Yiddishkeit.
