Kollel Seniors Gathered for a Shabbos Together
Thousands of members of Kollel Tiferes Z’keinim Levi Yitzchak gathered for a Shabbos with exquisite meals, moving activities, and flawless organization. The event created tremendous buzz, inspiring many to join the unique kollelim of the “golden generation.”
Thousands of retirees in Eretz Yisroel who learn daily in the nationwide network of Kollel Tiferes Z’keinim Levi Yitzchak gathered this past Shabbos for lavish regional meals with their families in honor of Yud Shevat – marking the beginning of the Rebbe’s leadership and the yahrtzeit of the Frierdiker Rebbe.
During the Shabbos meals, which continued late into the night, the elderly kollel members heard inspiring stories about the life and leadership of the Frierdiker Rebbe, as well as the work of the Rebbe, founder of Tiferes Z’keinim Levi Yitzchak, named after his father, the eminent kabbalist Harav Levi Yitzchak.
“Between the exquisite meals and the abundance of delicacies,” shared one kollel organizer, “the most powerful moment was the special activity created just for the community. It was moving to see everyone stand together, participate, and share – the atmosphere swept everyone up.”
The attention to detail was evident everywhere – from branding to flawless organization. Behind the scenes, the dedicated team of Colel Chabad, which in recent years has brought Tiferes Z’keinim Levi Yitzchak to new heights, worked alongside philanthropist Reb Levi Levayev to make the event a success.
The initiative united all the kollel members and created tremendous buzz among retirees, many of whom expressed interest in joining the unique kollelim, which today are home to thousands of learners from the “golden generation.”
Across Eretz Yisroel, 88 senior community centers have now been established under Kollel Tiferes Z’keinim – Levi Yitzchok, including new branches launched just this past month.
At the heart of each kollel are shiurim delivered by maggidei shiurim and shluchim in a style that is accessible and engaging for all, from seasoned learners to those completely new to Torah study. Across the country, 1,584 participants currently engage in ongoing learning.
Alongside Torah study, many kollelim offer health and fitness classes, lectures by prominent rabbis, well-planned trips, and a variety of engaging events throughout the year.
One recently launched initiative brings the weekly parsha to life through an interactive computer game, allowing participants to earn points by answering questions from their learning and creating a fun, competitive environment. Following a successful pilot, the program is now active across the entire network.
“The Rebbe was the first to point out the tremendous spiritual potential of the senior years,” wrote Chief Rabbi Harav Yitzchak Yosef in a public letter. “This group carries immense strength and an unparalleled ability to influence. I appeal to you to join this important mission – to find, encourage, and assist anyone willing to establish a Kollel Tiferes Z’keinim Levi Yitzchak, which provides its participants with an anchor, a sense of purpose, and true meaning.”
