On Hei Teves, a new Heichal Halimud was opened in Kingston, PA, providing a dedicated space for Torah learning as the Anash community continues to grow rapidly.

The new center, under the leadership of the community’s Rov, Harav Gedalia Oberlander, is equipped with a wide range of seforim, including works of halacha, responsa, Chassidus, and more, available in both Hebrew and English.

“The Rebbe wanted that every city should have a public place where people can learn Torah in peace, with access to a full range of books across all areas of Torah,” Rabbi Oberlander told Anash.org. “The Kingston Heichal Halimud fulfills that vision, offering space to learn with a chavrusa, prepare shiurim, and access seforim in both Hebrew and English.”

Rabbi Oberlander emphasized that while Kingston already has a rich “treasure of wisdom,” most people don’t have access to these resources. “The goal is for anyone preparing a shiur, learning a sugya, or conducting Torah research to have full access to all the seforim they need. It is a place where Torah learning can truly flourish.”

“Baruch Hashem, Kingston is growing,” Rabbi Oberlander said. “The shuls have many minyanim throughout the day, making it difficult to sit and learn quietly. This Heichal also provides the opportunity for a person to sit and learn, either by themselves or with a chavrusa, away from the noise and distractions of the world.”

The Chanukas Habayis was held on Hei Teves with a large farbrengen, featuring Rabbi Leima Wilhelm of Morristown, NJ. The community showed up en masse for the uplifting farbrengen, which revolved around the topic of limud haTorah and the impact it has on the individual and his family.

Looking to the future, Rabbi Oberlander envisions the space also serving as a Beis Hora’ah, where community members can consult with rabbonim available throughout the day to answer halachic questions.
