Ahead of Yud Alef Nissan, Rabbi Yaakov Raskin, Shliach of Jamaica, met with the Governor-General, Sir Patrick Allen, at his residence. During the meeting, the Governor-General signed a proclamation declaring Education and Sharing Day and recognizing the Sheva Mitzvos Bnei Noach.
The text of the proclamation read:
“By His Excellency the Most Honourable
Sir PATRICK LINTON ALLEN,
Member of the Order of the Nation,
Governor-General of Jamaica”
“GOVERNOR-GENERAL (signature) P. L. Allen“
“WHEREAS a just and moral society is built upon universal values that promote justice, kindness and respect for all:”
“AND WHEREAS the Seven Noahide Laws, given by G-d to Moses at Mount Sinai, provide a timeless foundation for ethical living, guiding humanity toward righteousness and societal harmony:”
“AND WHEREAS recognizing these principles strengthens our communities, upholds justice, and fosters peace and goodwill among all people:”
“AND WHEREAS education is essential in imparting these values to our youth, ensuring a future grounded in moral integrity and compassion:”
“AND WHEREAS the Ninth day of April Two Thousand and Twenty-five marks the birthday of Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson, known as the Rebbe, whose lifelong efforts emphasized the importance of education and ethical teachings of all:”
“NOW THEREFORE, I, PATRICK LINTON ALLEN, …, Governor-General of Jamaica, DO HEREBY PROCLAIM the 9th day of April Two Thousand and Twenty-five as Education and Sharing Day, and encourage all citizens to reflect upon and uphold these values in daily life. I further encourage individuals and institutions to display an Ark as a symbol of collective commitment to goodness, unity, and divine blessing.”
Rabbi Raskin wrote in a post later thanking “Your Excellency, Governor-General, Sir Patrick Allen, for once again proclaiming Education and Sharing Day in honor of the Rebbe’s birthday”.
“Your recognition of the Seven Noahide Laws and your encouragement to display the ARK box as a symbol of kindness and unity means so much to us — and to people around the world. May you be blessed with continued strength, health, and success in all you do for the people of Jamaica and beyond.”
