“On this day, at this hour, at this house, women are gathering to learn the dinim [of Taharas Hamishpacha] from a woman. They will have all their questions answered.”
At an electrifying talk in the spring of 1980, the Rebbe told women and girls that “Jewish homes need to be made aware that Taharas Hamishpocha holds up the entire existence of the Jewish nation!” Teaching the intricacies of Taharas Hamishpacha was vital for proper observance, the Rebbe explained, but equally important, he continued, was to do it in the proper way. Sharing the halachos in shul was neither ideal nor practical, whereas small, private classes were the way to go.
It’s been 45 years since that farbrengen.
In the interim, the Rebbe spoke and wrote countless times about the importance of Taharas Hamishpacha. And, as he charged, thousands of classes and review sessions have been held on this critical topic.
At a farbrengen in the summer of 1978, ל’ אב תשל”ה, the Rebbe said, “If you just explain it in a tznius and appropriate way, it will surely have a positive effect.” Now, with the guidance of Rabbanim, the Crown Heights Women’s Circle is going back to the source.
In order to uphold the sanctity and privacy of this subject and to ensure bracha and efficacy, Harav Yosef Heller advised the organizers to create small, private groups. With the dedicated help of Harav Shmuel Bluming, the Women’s Circle has designed Review Circles to take place at local homes. With a 15-woman max, a thorough review as well as the ability to ask questions comfortably, is assured. The classes are in-person only and are at no charge.
To kick off this exciting venture, noted mechaneches Mrs. Tirtza Shapiro of Miami Beach will fly in to present the three classes of the first series on כ”ה-כ”ז אב, August 19-21.
The Review Circles are dedicated l’ilui nishmas Tzivia bas R’ Sholom Yeshaya a”h.
