Tonight, The Women’s Circle will kick off its 8th annual Imahos U’banos Torah study program, bonding mothers and daughters in anash communities across the country, in Crown Heights, Kingston, Pomona, and South Florida.
It’s not only the boys who are hitting the books this week.
The Women’s Circle will be kicking off its eighth season of Imahos U’banos with four venues in Crown Heights as well as Kingston, Pennsylvania, Pomona, NY, and South Florida.
Imahos U’banos, or IUB, invites mothers and daughters to study together each month. This year’s program offers a brand new curriculum created by Chitas for Kids with the option of girls bringing their own homework or study material. Like Avos U’banim, treats, raffles, and a grand finale event are par for the course.
The hour of learning culminates with the 12 pesukim and tzedaka in honor of the safety of Eretz Yisroel. Participants who leave their cellphones in a prepared box during the learning hour are entered into a raffle for a gift card for breakfast for two at a local eatery. In addition, families who attend at least 3 of the 6 sessions are invited to an exclusive end-of-season BBQ.
Interestingly, it isn’t these perks that keep girls returning. Many look forward to this uninterrupted, focused time with their mothers as the treat of the month. Several moms have said it is their chance to really connect one-on-one and see where their daughters are in learning and life. IUB welcomes girls from age seven and up and is open to everyone in the community.
IUB is free of charge thanks to the generosity of the Smetana Family.
