Hundreds of Shluchim and Shluchos attended Chabad On Call’s virtual Kinus, which focused on the unique needs during the times of Covid and engaged with speakers and presenters on a wide range of topics.
For the last few months, Shluchim have been busier than ever with providing Social services and needs to their communities and will continue to do so in some form or another for the foreseeable future.
Chabad On Call’s annual ‘Chicken Soup for the Shliach on Call’ Kinus was there to answer the call.
Hundreds of Shluchim and Shluchos attended the virtual Kinus, which focused on the unique needs during the times of Covid and engaged with speakers and presenters on a wide range of topics.
“Everyone is in need of extra Chizuk in these trying times,” said Rabbi Moshe Kotlarsky, Vice Chairman of Merkos L’inyonei Chinuch, in his introduction of the program, “This is not only about Shluchim who are on call daily, it is necessary for every Shliach.”
During the panel on maximizing your impact on the local medical facilities, Rabbi Yochanan Klein (Miami, Florida) suggested that Shluchim bring gifts and treats to the health care workers at hospitals. Even though the pandemic has been going on for months already, showing care for medical staff can still make a positive impression.
Rabbi Berel Levertov (Sante Fe, New Mexico) related that he saw immediate results from this idea. “Hearing this discussed during the presentation, I decided it’s not too late to get involved and that very week we brought over fresh Challah to all the hospital staff. It was very well received and left a great feeling with the entire community.”
The mental toll Covid-19 is having on millions of families and individuals was the focus of the keynote presentation by Dr. David Pelcovitz Ph.D.
In a clear and professional manner, he clarified the often blurry lines between rabbinic intervention and medical professionals when dealing with mental health issues. He also highlighted the critical role Shluchim and Shluchos play in helping those who are struggling when done in the proper manner.
With Tishrei fast approaching and uncertainty still lingering, the practical Halacha session was very popular and well attended. Pertinent, practical and challenging scenarios were discussed so Shluchim can prepare themselves and their communities appropriately for the month of Yomim Tovim and Mivtzoyim.
A full replay of every session is available for Shluchim and Shluchos to review and enjoy at their own time.
It is our fervent prayer to Hashem that He usher in the era of full healing for Klal Yisroel and the entire world!
