The foundation of a Chassid’s perspective is that his soul (and those of his friends) is a spark and a branch of a more general soul, the soul of his Rebbe. Therefore, both in the physical and spiritual aspects of his life, there is a strong connection between them. What occurs with one of them, affects also the other to a significant degree. As mentioned this is true both in his physical as well as in his spiritual affairs, including, of course, also his learning Torah and fulfillment of the Mitzvos.
יסוד השקפת עולמו של החסיד הוא אשר נשמתו (וכן נשמות
חבריו), ניצוץ וענף הוא מנשמה יותר כללית, היא נשמת האדמו”ר
