Help My Brother Yanky Through Rehabilitation and Recovery
Anash.org columnist Shmuel Super appeals to help his brother Yanky, a Hatzalah medic who was injured in the Sydney attack, and is in need of funds to help cover his rehabilitation and recovery.

Last Sunday, the first day of Chanukah, my brother Yanky was at Australia’s Bondi Beach, on standby as a Sydney Hatzalah medic, something he’d been doing at that event for the past few years.
Yanky is a household figure in Sydney’s tight-knit Jewish community, responding day and night to save lives.
On Sunday, he expected to treat scrapes and bruises and apply bandages. Instead, Yanky was one of the first shot by the terrorists, using his yarmulke to apply pressure to his own wound.
Yanky was shot in the back, with shrapnel impacting his lung. Losing blood fast, Yanky disconnected his radio from its microphone—shattered by a bullet—and radioed for help, making one of the first calls to emergency services.
His Hatzalah colleagues, led by Mendy Litzman, responded under fire, saving dozens of lives thanks to Yanky’s quick actions.
Yanky’s life was saved in surgery, with the surgeon reporting that the bullet had just missed his spinal cord.
His road to recovery will be a long one. Yanky has undergone three surgeries, and is still in hospital, with difficulty breathing due to his collapsed lung.
Yanky has been there for the community day and night for years, responding 24/7 to falls, breaks, cardiac arrests, and everything else.
Today, please be there for Yanky.
The funds will go toward medical expenses, rehabilitation costs, and the financial strain that comes with a prolonged recovery.
