A Jewish man, Ron W., who lived in Austell, passed away last erev Shabbos. Funds are needed to ensure that he receives a proper Jewish burial.
In the middle of last week, while I was in NY for Gimmel Tammuz, a dear friend from Bremen, GA called me to tell me about a Jewish man he knows who was in hospice and was slated for cremation against his wishes.
Ron wanted to be buried, but his children did not share the same concern. We committed then and there to raise the funds to cover the burial completely.
Please help us perform the powerful mitzvah of Chesed Shel Emes and make sure a beloved Jew is buried according to Jewish law.
Please donate before time runs out!
Now it is crunch time. Ron passed on Friday morning, and we have scheduled the burial for Tuesday (12 Tammuz) at 1 pm.
The commandment of Meis Mitzvah is so crucial that if someone encounters an unidentified Jewish body, he must immediately stop any mitzvah or activity he is busy with and take care of the burial. The reward for this mitzvah, a kindness in its purest form and the only mitzvah called Chesed Shel Emes, is unimaginable. Even the kohen gadol, the saintly High Priest whose sanctity did not permit him to attend the funeral of his own child, was commanded to bury a meis mitzvah he encountered.
