In a recently viral video, a small child is seen approaching the Rebbe during chazoras hashatz, as the Rebbe waves hello to him. 35 years later, that child shares how that special interaction touched him for life.
In a post shared on social media, R’ Fitz Shpigelman recounts:
“35 years ago tonight, something extraordinary happened—a moment that has been part of me my entire life. I was only two and a half years old, far too young to remember it myself, but I’ve heard the story told so many times. I often imagined it in my mind, replaying it whenever I needed strength or inspiration. For years, I thought I would never actually see it—until recently, when JEM uncovered the video.”
“During Mincha at 770, I wandered away from my parents, simply wanting to say hello to the Rebbe. In that special moment, the Rebbe paused his Davening for me. He waved, and with such love and care, his eyes followed me as I was guided back down the stairs.”
“Watching this moment now, for the first time, has left me humbled and feeling so blessed. It’s a gift I will treasure forever—a moment that fills my heart with gratitude and inspires me to strive and make the Rebbe proud every single day.”
