At the conclusion of shiva for shliach Rabbi Binyomin Wolff, family members, fellow shluchim and mekuravim went to his kever in Hanover, Germany, to erect a matzeiva.
Last week, close to 15,000 people attended a virtual lavaya for Rabbi Wolff as he was laid to rest in the city where he served as the sole rabbi to its 5,000 Jews.
Shortly after her husband’s passing, Mrs. Shterni Wolff announced that he would be laid to rest in Hanover; the couple served there together as the Rebbe’s shluchim for fifteen years.
For Hanover, this is a difficult first as the city has not seen a Lubavitcher, nor any rabbi buried there since the Holocaust. The community finds consolation in the knowledge that even after his passing, Rabbi Wolff remained with his flock – the countless Jews whose lives he touched.
