75 women gathered at the Wellesley-Weston Chabad for an elegant event celebrating the grand opening of the gorgeous Gil and Lila Silverman Mikvah. A tour of the mikvah followed the ribbon-cutting ceremony.
On the main street of a leafy Boston suburb this past Sunday afternoon, 75 women gathered to celebrate the grand opening of the Gil and Lila Silverman Mikvah which is tucked away behind the Wellesley-Weston Chabad.
The gorgeous mikvah is the work of renowned designer Marina Shektman, who along with the WWC’s Shlucha, Geni Bleich, designed the masterpiece mikvah. Nestled behind the shul in a charming New England building, the new mikvah exudes the timeless elegance characteristic of its upscale neighborhood.
The entrance is tucked away in the back and it opens into an intimate room with a calming air of serenity and privacy. It was revealed to the public for the first time Sunday with a tour of the mikvah after the ribbon-cutting ceremony.
The event’s program featured an inspiring lineup of speakers, including Rabbi Moshe Bleich, spiritual leader of Wellesley-Weston Chabad; Mrs. Geni Bleich, co-director and founder of the Mikvah, as well as guest speaker Mrs. Miriam Lipsker of Emory Chabad in Atlanta. Mrs. Lipsker dazzled the crowd with a talk which was not just informative but also deeply personal, with moving stories about using the mikvah and its power to sustain a healthy, happy marriage, fostering a sense of connection and empathy among the audience.
The mood was electric with anticipation as women of all ages eagerly awaited the much-anticipated opening. The festive mood was further heightened by the array of delicious food, elegantly prepared and set up by Dushez Caterers adding to an already incredible afternoon.
Adding to the incredible success of the event, was the fact that several women were excited to learn even more about the special Mitzvah, including five women, who decided on the spot to start going to the Mikvah!
The stunning mikvah was made possible by a generous donation from Eric and Svetlana Silverman, stalwarts, and benefactors of the Wellesley-Weston Chabad. The Mikvah was also a recipient of the Keren HaShluchim Mikvah grant, facilitated by Rabbi Moshe Kotlarsky, zichrono livracha, in their mission to help ensure that every Jewish community has a proper mikvah.
The Gil and Lila Silverman Mikvah does not have a charge for those who would like to use it. Anyone who would like to have a part of this very important Mitzvah is encouraged to contribute any amount by clicking here: https://www.wwjewish.org/templates/donate_cdo/aid/4970020/jewish/Donate.htm
