From Persia to Iran: Purim Miracles Today
Over the past two years, Klal Yisroel has witnessed (at least) three incredible miracles of a magnitude comparable to the Splitting of Yam Suf. Hashem’s loving Hand protected us time and again from enemies and danger. From Persia of old to Iran of today, we are witnessing Purim miracles in our times.

We praise Hashem for His goodness and kindness forever!
As we head into the joyous and transformative month of Adar, the holiday of Purim comes into focus. On this Yom Tov, the Hand of Hashem orchestrated behind the scenes the miraculous salvation of the entire Yiddishe nation from the evil Haman and King Achashverosh in Persia (today’s Iran).
In Yiddishkeit, the energy of this month and Yom Tov is happening right now!
Amidst the turmoil of recent years, we recognize the daily miracles – both personal and global – that Hashem has wrought for Klal Yisroel. Showing gratitude to Hashem for His brachos and miracles is intrinsic to the Jewish spirit and helps bring even more brachos and miracles.
Let us revisit three miracles of the magnitude of the Splitting of Yam Suf for Klal Yisroel:
On the 5th of Nissan 5784 (April 13th, 2024), Hashem granted a loving miracle: Iran fired over 300 missiles and drones toward Eretz Yisroel, an unprecedented provocation.
During the Gulf War in 5751 (1991), the Rebbe had earlier (Erev Sukkos 5771) told a delegation from Kfar Chabad, Israel, that Yisroel would experience miracles bringing joy equal to Purim. Earlier still, the Rebbe addressed Army Major Rabbi Yaakov Goldstein, sent to Iraq as a US Army chaplain, that the Gulf War would end by Purim.
These miracles occurred when Iraq sent 39 missiles into Eretz Yisroel. With Hashem’s help, there was no loss of life, although there was some physical damage. Yet this amazing miracle brought hope and gratitude and, as the Rebbe predicted, ended on Purim – a truly joyous Purim!
Returning to today:
Exactly six weeks after the first Iranian provocation, on May 19th, 2024, the Iranian mastermind behind these attacks died in a helicopter crash that exploded into a fiery ball, leaving no survivors.
Then, on the 28th of Elul 5784 (October 1st, 2024), another 200 unprovoked projectiles were fired toward Eretz Yisroel. Once again, thank Hashem, no lives were lost and no damage occurred.
Professor Maximilian Albitol remarked following the Iranian missile invasion: “If 90% of the missiles had been intercepted, it would have been a miracle; that 100% were intercepted with no loss of life or damage is the equivalent of the Splitting of the Sea!”
Fast forward to February 20, 2025 – Chof Beis Shevat 5785. Terrorists planted timed bombs on buses in Yehuda and Shomron and elsewhere, set to detonate at 9 a.m., Friday morning, during rush hour to maximize destruction. Their sinister plan was to overwhelm emergency response and repeat an October 7th-style attack, r”l.
But Hashem was watching over Klal Yisroel. The bombs were mistakenly set for 9 p.m. instead of 9 a.m. Three buses had returned to their stations when the blasts alerted authorities. All buses were immediately stopped and searched; the bombs were neutralized. As Hillel Fuld said, “We just experienced a miracle like the Splitting of Yam Suf!”
On ‘Shevii shel Pesach’, the seventh day of Passover, Hashem miraculously split the sea so the Jewish people could go across safely. The Jewish people left Egypt miraculously and were on their way to Mount Sinai to receive the Torah and become Hashem’s beloved nation.
Suddenly, they found themselves pursued by their Egyptian taskmasters. Behind them were their Egyptian enemies, and in front of them was the Red Sea. Miraculously, the sea split, and the Jews went across on the dry bed. When they reached the other side and saw that their enemies had perished in the waters which returned to cover them, they burst out in song and praise.
Moshe led the men in the song of Az Yashir, recited daily in our prayers, while Miriam led the women in song and dance with tambourines.
Let us raise our voices in praise for Hashem’s kindness and miracles today!
In Chapter 150 of Tehillim, David Hamelech praises Hashem with all manner of instruments. We too must acknowledge our miracles with praise and gratitude. In Eretz Yisroel, a popular song is Tehillim 100, Mizmor l’sodah – a song of praise to Hashem.
We pray for the miraculous healing of all soldiers and the wounded. Let us beseech Hashem to end this galus and usher in the final Geulah with Moshiach now. When Moshiach comes, may it be speedily in our time, and we will all sing the tenth and final song of praise to Hashem.
Thank Hashem for continuing to watch over our people in Eretz Yisroel and around the world.
HAPPY PURIM THEN AND NOW!
“Purim Miracles Today” is the title taken from a sicha of the Rebbe, published 8 Adar 5751, connecting current events with the Divinely engineered cosmic process leading up to the ultimate Redemption. See: Sichos in English – I Will Show You Wonders, 5751 (1991).
