FJCR President Honored with Lavish Siyum Sefer Torah
A prominent Siyum Sefer Torah was held in Moscow in honor of Rabbi Aleksander Boroda, president of the Federation of Jewish Communities of Russia (FJCR), in recognition of his decades of tireless work on behalf of Yiddishkeit across Russia.
A grand and prominent Siyum Sefer Torah was held in Moscow in honor of Rabbi Aleksander Boroda, president of the Federation of Jewish Communities of Russia (FJCR), in recognition of his decades of tireless work on behalf of the hundreds of thousands of Jews across Russia.
The siyum took place at Boroda’s Chabad House, a central community shul serving hundreds of affluent and prominent Jews in Moscow.
Born in Moscow in 1968, Rabbi Aleksandr Moiseevich Boroda is a leading figure in Russian Jewry. Serving as president of the FJCR since 2008 and director of the Jewish Museum and Tolerance Center since 2012, he has played a pivotal role in strengthening Jewish life across Russia.
Collaborating closely with Rabbi Berel Lazar, he has led major initiatives, including the construction of the Moscow Jewish Community Center, the largest in Eastern Europe, as well as the Zhukovka Jewish Cultural and Religious Center.
Under his leadership, the FJCR has become the largest Jewish organization in the country. Boroda is also active in cultural initiatives, including Jewish film festivals, making him one of the most prominent Jewish leaders in Russia.
The event drew a distinguished crowd, including prominent communal leaders and government officials. Rabbi Boroda welcomed the attendees, expressing thanks and admiration for the incredible honor.
His remarks were followed by an address from Russia’s Chief Rabbi and head shliach, Rabbi Berel Lazar, who thanked Rabbi Boroda for his extraordinary contributions to Jewish life in Russia.
