Fire Breaks Out in Bochurim Dormitory Building, All Are Safe

A large fire broke out this afternoon at a bochurim dormitory building located at 755 Eastern Parkway, across the street from 770. More than ten fire trucks and emergency units quickly arrived at the scene, and all the bochurim were safely evacuated without injury.

A large fire broke out this afternoon at the bochurim dormitory building, located at 755 Eastern Parkway, across from 770. The building belongs to the Igud Talmidei HaKvutza, and dozens of bochurim reside there.

The blaze began at the back of the third floor of the six-story dormitory, in an apartment belonging to private residents.

Large flames and heavy smoke were seen coming out of the windows as firefighters, Hatzalah, and emergency units rushed to the scene. More than ten fire trucks arrived within minutes, and firefighters quickly entered the building, extinguishing the blaze before it could spread further. Some flames reached part of the fourth floor, but were swiftly contained.

Boruch Hashem, all the bochurim were safely evacuated from the building without injury. EMS and police assisted on scene with safety and crowd control.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. Firefighters are continuing to assess the damage, and the Department of Buildings was requested to inspect the structure. The building remains temporarily closed until it is declared safe to reenter.

  1. Is t this the 2nd time there’s a fire in this building…. 🤨 After the one that had a bochur fighting for his life we should be more careful no?
