Preparations are now being completed for the special Shabbos near the Ohel of Harav Levi Yitzchok in Alma-Ata, Kazakhstan, in honor of his 80th yahrzeit.
The event will be attended by over a thousand guests from around the world, including rabbonim, mashpiim, shluchim, and anash.
The Deputy Mayor of Alma-Ata visited the Jewish center to closely inspect the preparations. The Kazakh official assured Rabbi Yeshaya Cohen, the Chief Rabbi of Kazakhstan, that the municipality will make every effort to ensure that visitors can daven in a safe and organized manner in genuine respect for the “spiritual grandfather of the community, Rabbi Schneerson.”
