In advance of the Siyum of the seventh Children’s Sefer Torah, organizers met with Rabbi Shmuel Rabinowitz, rabbi of the Kosel and holy sites, to coordinate the event.
The delegation was led by Rabbi Shmuel Greisman, international director of Ois B’Sefer Torah, Rabbi Noam Roth, director of Tzach in Yerushalayim, and Chabad producers Yisraelik Nabul and Menny Lerer.
The completion of the seventh Sefer Torah will take place in just a few weeks from now, on Chof Av, the yahrzeit of the Rebbe’s father Harav Levi Yitzchak Schneerson.
Thousands from all over the world will participate in the event which will take place exactly 40 years since the Siyum of the first Torah in 5741.
On Yud Alef Nissan 5741, the Rebbe announced a new initiative; A Torah should be written for children, uniting Jewish children around the world. Over the next few days, the Rebbe farbrenged another two times, urging chassidim to sign children up for the special Torah.
Forty years later, seven Sifrei Torah have been completed, uniting close to two million Jewish children from every corner of the globe.
