In a film shown at the Kinus Tzeirei Hashluchim, Yankel Schanowitz, a young Shliach in Manhattan, stumbles upon a collection of albums featuring photos of Shluchim and sets on a quest to uncover the story behind them, leading him to interview personalities involved in making the Sefer Hashluchim.
The Kinus Tzeirei Hashluchim of the Shluchim Office releases an inspiring video presentation shedding light on the significance, history, and timeless relevance of the Sefer Hashluchim, the “family album” of the Shluchim.
The presentation begins with the intriguing journey of Yankel Schanowitz, a young Shliach in Manhattan, who stumbled upon a collection of albums featuring photos of Shluchim in his home. His curiosity sparked a quest to uncover the story behind this cherished compilation. Seeking guidance from Rabbi Levi Shemtov, Shliach in Riverdale, NY, Yankel set out to explore the origins and deeper meaning of the Sefer Hashluchim.
Yankel’s journey includes interviews with Rabbi Yehuda Krinsky, the Rebbe’s secretary and chairman of Merkos L’Inyonei Chinuch and Machne Israel, and Rabbi Yossi Friedman, director of Kehot Publication Society, who were both deeply involved in the album’s creation. Rabbi Krinsky shares a heartfelt firsthand account of the profound significance the Sefer Hashluchim held for the Rebbe and its enduring impact on the global network of Shluchim.
This moving story of the Shluchim’s “family album,” and the Rebbe’s personal involvement in its creation beautifully encapsulates the theme of this year’s Kinus Tzeirei Hashluchim: “Near and Dear,” celebrating the unbreakable bond between the Rebbe and his Shluchim.
