Fifth Chanukah Candle Lights Up the Eiffel Tower

On the fifth night of Chanukah, reminiscent of the famous satellite broadcast, Shluchim in Paris, led by Rabbi Mendel Azimov, held a spirited Menorah lighting. Large crowds gathered for the event, which featured a live broadcast connecting Paris, the Kosel, 770, and a surprise lighting with Jewish soldiers at an IDF base in Gaza.

A large crowd gathered in front of the Eiffel Tower for the lighting of the fifth Chanukah candle.

This special event, held annually for the past thirty years and now a cherished tradition, was attended by numerous distinguished figures, including the Director of the Consistoire, the Chief Rabbi of Paris, and the Israeli Ambassador to France.

The event is organized by the Paris branch of Chabad-Lubavitch, under the leadership of Rabbi Mendel Azimov. The evening’s atmosphere was enhanced by music from Yossef Brahmi‘s orchestra and with singer Shmil.

This occasion was similar to the renowned ‘satellite’ broadcast, during which participants simultaneously viewed candlelightings at the Kosel in Eretz Yisroel, in the Rebbe’s Shul – 770, and, for the first time this year, at a military base in the city of Gaza!

All the speeches centered on themes of bringing light to the entire world, fostering unity among the Jewish people, celebrating victory over adversaries, and praying for the immediate and safe return of all hostages. The speakers also expressed a shared hope for the next candle lighting to take place in the Third Beis Hamikdash with Moshiach.
