The FBI and NYPD are beefing up security at two venues for the Siyum Hashas tomorrow, in the wake of recent anti-Semitic attacks in the tri-state area.
About 100,000 people are expected to attend the 13th Global Siyum Hashas of Daf Yomi, at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, NJ, on Wednesday. Another 18,000 are expected at the event in Barclays center, located in downtown Brooklyn. Both events will be connected via live.
New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy is also planning to attend the Siyum, his attendance was confirmed even before the recent wave of attacks.
Rabbi Abe Friedman, a community leader and New Jersey State Police chaplain, said, ”We have planned and worked with law enforcement on this event for close to a year.
“The community is more concerned than ever due to the recent events, However, I am confident that it will be a safe event thanks to our friends in law enforcement. We ask all participants to obey all rules and arrive early to accommodate security measures.”
