Following the attempted ramming at 770’s back entrance during one of the busiest times of the year, the official 770 farbrengen was forced to reschedule.
The incident occurred on Motzei Yud Shevat, when thousands of people gathered at 770, including many bochurim who travel from around the world for the special day. A man drove his car into the Rebbe’s driveway and slammed the back entrance. Miraculously, not one person was injured.
Police arrived quickly at the scene, where they arrested the driver. However, a bomb scare in the car caused the police to evacuate the building.
The annual Yud Shevat farbrengen in 770 was scheduled for 9:30 PM tonight. Due to the evacuation, the farbrengen has been rescheduled for tomorrow, Thursday night, at 9:30 PM.
In the meantime, locals and guests sought alternative plans. Bochurim were invited to join the Vaad Talmidei Hatemimim farbrengen with Rabbi Osher Farkash at Oholei Torah, while yungeleit sat down to farbreng with Rabbi Yosef Klyne in the Kolel building, on the corner of Kingston and Union.
