Explosion in Crown Heights Basement, Miraculously No Injuries
A loud explosion rocked Crown Heights on Sunday night when a blast went off in the basement of a two-story private dwelling on Empire Boulevard, off Kingston Avenue. The explosion occurred at approximately 10:30 p.m., leaving a large hole in the basement wall.
A loud explosion rocked Crown Heights on Sunday night when a blast went off in the basement of a two-story private dwelling on Empire Boulevard, off Kingston Avenue. The explosion occurred at approximately 10:30 p.m., leaving a large hole in the basement wall.
Shomrim said in a statement: “At approximately 10:30 p.m., an explosion occurred in a home on Empire Boulevard, off Kingston Avenue. Shomrim volunteers were first on scene, helping to secure the house and confirming that, B”H, there were no injuries.”
Hatzalah of Crown Heights responded, and FDNY transmitted an “all hands” alarm for a fire in a two-story private dwelling.
The cause of the explosion is under investigation. First reports suggested it may have been a gas leak.
