Residents of Crown Heights have begun bringing in their tefillin and mezuzos to the Beis Din to be inspected by Rabbi Menachem Kahn, an expert in safrus, to answer all questions about STaM and to identify possible fraudulent STaM that were sold in Crown Heights.
As reported by Anash.org, after it was discovered that possul tefillin and mezuzos – written by a non-frum Ukrainian “sofer” – are sadly still being sold on the market, the Rabbonim of the Crown Heights Beis Din arranged for Rabbi Kahn, a Rosh Kolel in Faltbush and an expert on STaM, to assist the public in determining whether their tefillin and mezuzos were written by this unscrupulous individual and to answer all safrus questions.
Rabbi Kahn is the author of several seforim on halacha, including the recently published Keses Hasofer, which includes the piskei dinim of the Rabbeim on all areas of safrus.
He will be available at the Beis Din every Wednesday from 5:00 to 7:00 PM.
For questions or to send pictures for review, the public can contact the Badatz office by phone at (718) 604-8000 ext. 7 or via WhatsApp at (347) 522-2050.
Can you tell us where and when the fraudulent STaM was sold?
Thank you
