This past Sukkos, London experienced a remarkable program as Anash families and children from Lubavitch Primary School took to the streets to offer Yidden the opportunity to bentch lulav and esrog.
Behind this successful mivtza was Rabbi Getzel Itzinger of Anash Community Projects who mobilized anash families from across the Lubavitcher kehillah in London to fulfill the rebbe’s hora’a of going out to be mezakeh Yidden on sukkos with the mitzvos of the day.
All boys who went on mivtzoim and shook lulav, with at least ten Yidden, received an automatic gift voucher for local game stores and restaurants. In addition, a special raffle was held for a set of seforim, a Lego set, and a race car.
After the boys returned to school, Rabbi Getzel Itzinger paid a special visit to the cheder to raffle off the prizes and to thank the melamdim for their invaluable contribution to this mivtza by encouraging the boys to participate. The raffle prizes were won by boys from the Black, Cohen, and Lent families.
Overall, with the direction of Rabbi Itinger and the melamdim, 35 anash families and 75 boys participating, an estimated 1,500 yidden were able to bentch on the arba minim this Sukkos – quite an achievement for the English city.
