Every Bochur Can Now Master Semicha Topics

The Rebbe emphasized the importance of bochurim learning semicha before marriage to build homes rooted in Torah and equip them with the knowledge to serve as “Rav” for their families. Lemaan Yilmedu’s program will help you achieve your goal.

The Rebbe emphasized the importance of bochurim receiving semicha prior to marriage. Doing so enables them to build homes rooted in Torah and Yiras Shamayim and equips them with the knowledge and confidence to serve as “Rav” for their families.

Until now, bochurim may have found it challenging to find the time and resources to prepare for semicha. Lemaan Yilmedu created Semicha for Bochurim by reconfiguring the established Lemaam Yilmedu semicha curriculum to better fit the needs of bochurim on shlichus or in yeshiva.

The curriculum covers all the same topics generally covered in any semicha program: basar b’chalav, taaruvos and melicha. The course begins right after Tishrei and concludes on Gimmel Tammuz, just before summer plans begin.

Each participant receives Lemaan Yilmedu study materials, which include a Shulchan Aruch with summaries and an English translation, summary booklets, and booklets with diagrams as learning aids.

The program meets daily at 5:00 pm on Zoom for an hour-long shiur taught by Rabbi Yossi Barber, who has more than ten years of experience in giving shiurim in semicha, particularly to bochurim at Lemaan Yilmedu and in kollelim and yeshivos.

The Zoom format enables every bochur to participate wherever he is. After the shiur, participants have access to video and audio recordings of the shiur for review (or in case they missed the live shiur).

There will be period tests throughout the course, and those who pass will receive a semicha certificate signed by noted Chabad rabbonim.

Semicha for Bachurim is subsidized, leiluy nishmas Harav Zushe Wilhelm a”h, head of Lemaan Yilmedu in the U.S., to enable yeshiva students to earn semicha. Therefore, it is open only to yeshiva students, and registration requires confirmation of the participant’s yeshiva attendance for the upcoming school year.
