Israel’s Chief Rabbi, Rabbi Kalman Ber, welcomed Rabbi Shmuel Greisman, Chairman of the Children’s Sefer Torah Committee, to his office this week.

During the meeting, Rabbi Greisman presented the Chief Rabbi with personalized certificates for each of his grandchildren, detailing the child’s name and the portion of the Torah in which their letter appears. Visibly moved, the Chief Rabbi expressed his deep appreciation for the privilege of partnering in this sacred project of writing a Sefer Torah for Jewish children worldwide, undertaken in fulfillment of the Rebbe’s directive.

Rabbi Greisman briefed the Chief Rabbi on the committee’s ongoing activities and extended a special invitation to participate in the Siyum celebration for the ninth Sefer Torah, scheduled to take place, G-d willing, on the 20th of Menachem Av later this year. At the conclusion of the visit, Rabbi Greisman presented the Chief Rabbi with a beautiful album documenting the completion ceremonies of the previous Sifrei Torah.

The Children’s Sefer Torah project, initiated by the Rebbe, has enrolled close to three million Jewish children worldwide. Each child receives a letter in the Sefer Torah, thereby uniting all Jewish children in one Torah and bringing blessing and protection to each child, their family, and the entire Jewish people.
