Dayan Raskin Headlines Chicago’s 60-Year Torah Tradition
A proud tradition spanning over 60 years, Chicago’s annual Kinus Torah drew a large crowd for an evening of engaging Torah and lively discussion. A special highlight of this year’s Kinus was the presence of the guest speaker, Dayan Levi Yitzchok Raskin of London.
Chicago’s annual Kinus Torah, a proud tradition spanning over 60 years, took place this Chol Hamoed at Congregation Bnei Reuven, drawing a large crowd for an evening of engaging Torah and lively discussion.
A special highlight of this year’s Kinus was the presence of the guest speaker, Dayan Levi Yitzchok Raskin of London. He discussed the chiyuv of tefillah b’tzibbur and offered incisive comments on topics raised by earlier speakers.

The 60-year-old Kinus was originally chaired by Rabbi Avraham Levitansky, later a renowned shliach in Santa Monica, California. From the early 1970s, Rabbi Daniel Moscowitz was an active participant and later the driving force behind the kinusim. It continues to be organized by Rabbi Meir Moscowitz, regional director of Lubavitch Chabad of Illinois.
