As we near the last days of Yomim Tovim, Crown Heights is preparing for an overextended stay of orchim who came for Tishrei with the Rebbe. Due to widespread flight cancellations, many travelers from Eretz Yisrael may be stuck for weeks.
Lufthansa, Austrian, Swiss, and Brussels Airlines have canceled flights until October 31, while British Airways is suspended until November 2, and LOT Polish Airlines until November 12. Iberia, ITA, and Air Baltic have canceled flights through November, with American, Delta, United, and others potentially not resuming until the end of the secular year.
With few flight alternatives between Shabbos Bereishis and Shabbos Lech Lecha, Crown Heights may see a surge in the number of guests relying on local accommodations and resources for the foreseeable future.
