‘Cosmic Krispies’ and ‘Space Station Sukkah’ Brings Sukkos to Life

The CKids Rosh Hashanah Airlines and Sukkot Space Station programs transformed familiar customs into immersive adventures. Shluchim in over 300 communities reported record attendance, with many attracting new families to their Chabad Houses and Hebrew Schools.

In a year of unprecedented challenges, over 10,000 Jewish children in 300 communities worldwide began 5785 with renewed enthusiasm for their Jewish heritage, thanks to innovative holiday programs designed to build proud, confident young Jews.

The CKids Rosh Hashanah Airlines and Sukkot Space Station programs, developed by CKids International, at Merkos 302, transformed familiar customs into immersive adventures. Shluchim in over 300 communities reported record attendance, with many attracting new families to their Chabad Houses and Hebrew Schools.

From mock airport security checkpoints featuring holiday trivia to “Intergalactic Space Station Sukkah” design projects, each activity reinforced Jewish values and traditions in engaging, memorable ways. Children crafted DIY honey scrubs for Rosh Hashanah and “Cosmic Krispies” shaped like the Arbah Minim for Sukkot, deepening their knowledge and appreciation for the Mitzvos and Minhagim of the day.

Chana Altein of the Chabad Russian Center of South Florida shared the program’s impact: “The sukkah building took 20 minutes, and the kids loved it. We played the dance video twice and gave out light-up sticks. It took us a full hour and a half to do it all!”

Rabbi Mendy Kotlarsky, Executive Director of Merkos 302, highlighted the broader significance: “These resources help children, especially those in public schools, connect deeply and positively to their Jewish identity. Our goal is to empower the children to be confident proud Jews in their daily lives.”

The programs’ success lies in their ability to make the Yomim Tovim relevant and exciting for today’s kids. By seamlessly blending timeless teachings with contemporary engaging experiences, shluchim are ensuring the continuity and vibrancy of Jewish life, helping children internalize and proudly express their heritage in all aspects of their lives.
