Coronavirus Update For Crown Heights #5

Medical update from The Gedaliah Society, in conjunction with Dr. Eli Rosen, on the state of the coronavirus in the Crown Heights community.

Medical update: From The Gedaliah Society, in conjunction with Dr. Eli Rosen

We continue to be in the midst of a serious outbreak of this virus.

We ask of everyone in the neighborhood to follow the guidelines, including strict social distancing, and a waiting period of 7 days after the beginning of symptoms or 72 hours after fever abates, whichever longer, before returning to society (under strict social distancing).

It is particularly important for those not recovered after a week to report any shortness of breath. Hatzalah has done magnificent community service, and continue to do so.

Once again, we want to point out to those above the age of 65 or those with underlying health issues, the critical nature of the instruction to stay home and shelter in place.

COVID Hotline:

The hotline for our local Crown Heights community was up and running yesterday, and has received hundreds of calls so far. Boruch Hashem our dedicated volunteers have been able to field those calls to the best of their ability.

Again, the hotline number is:
212-901-2000.

While most calls are answered in real time, if you get a voicemail, leave a message and we will try to call you back. (If it’s a medical emergency, call Hatzalah.) If the question requires further expertise, we will direct you as appropriate.

Isolating Together Helpline:

If you or someone you know is in isolation, either because of their age, symptoms, or other issues, and needs help with daily errands etc:

In an attempt to decrease the burden on the hotline, there is now a separate email address for these requests.

Please email [email protected].

It is a confidential email manned by one person, who will match you with one of our volunteers.
In the email, please leave your name, phone number, address, and what sort of assistance you need.

Please share this email address with anyone you know who may be in need of assistance during their isolation. Email us their phone number and we will reach out to them.

PLEASE
We have had an outpouring of volunteers to assist with this program. WE STILL NEED MORE
If you can volunteer, please click here.

Wishing everyone good health.
A tremendous thank you to Hatzalah for their tireless work and sacrifice, and to all of our amazing volunteers through this time!
