By Yehuda Shaffer
Who should you vote for?
Well, here are my recommendations:
Mayor: Cuomo
Public Advocate: Gonzalo Duran
Comptroller: Mark Levine
City Council: Yehuda Shaffer/Benny Rosenberger (whichever is on your ballot)
Proposals:
1. Yes
2. No
3. No
4. No
5. Yes
6. Yes
As for the why.
Mayor: Cuomo; He’s better than the guy we don’t want, and has a chance of beating him.
Public Advocate: Gonzalo Duran; Met him, good guy with good values, and I’m on the ballot as an independent under his party.
Comptroller: Mark Levine; Why not?
City Council: Yehuda Shaffer/Benny Rosenberger (whichever is on your ballot); If you don’t understand yourself, I can’t help you…
Proposals:
1. Yes; building an Olympic sporting venue in Essex County and adding more new forest to Adirondack Park sounds like a good idea to me.
2. No; this would make it easier for the mayor to force housing projects onto communities and give the community less say in the matter.
3. No; see #2 above.
4. No; see #2 above.
5. Yes; Making a unified digital map of the city sounds like something that is long overdue.
6. Yes; we want people to go out and vote. Having fewer election days by having local and federal elections at the same time, sounds like a good idea to get more people to vote, and is sure to save the city a bundle of money.
With all due respect, the impression i got from this article was very shallow reasoning. i would expect someone making recommendations for the entire community to do some more research before putting out such a list, not just pick out of the hat choices like “good guy, i met him”, or “why not”, thats not respectful to the community, and why should such advice even be considered?
