Israel’s Ashkenazi Chief Rabbi Dovid Lau was warmly welcomed Thursday night at a farbrengen in Yeshiva Gedola Buenos Aires.
Rabbi Lau spoke to the Bochurim about the significance of Rosh Chodesh Kislev. He explained that the miracle of Rosh Chodesh Kislev was not one that only affected Chabad Chassidim. Considering that the Rebbe’s influence reached every Jew in every corner of the world, the miracle affected all of Klal Yisrael. He concluded by encouraging the Bochurim to redouble their commitment to Limmud HaTorah.
Rabbi Lau’s address was followed by head Shliach to Argentina Rabbi Tzvi Grunblatt who spoke about the chief rabbi’s special connection to Chabad. Rabbi Greenblat also discussed the special connection Rabbi Lau’s father, former Chief Rabbi Yisrael Meir Lau had with the Rebbe. In fact, the Rebbe was the first to encourage him to seek the position of chief rabbi.
After Rabbi Lau left the farbrengen continued with memebers of the Yeshiva’s hanhala, Rabbis Osher Farkash, Zalman Farkash, and Berel Baumgarten.
