Bochurim at Yeshivas Ohr Eliyahu – Lubavitch Mesivta of Chicago produced a professional rendition of nigun ‘Yaaleh’ with Chazan Aryeh Leib Hurwitz, the first part of an album that will soon be released to the public.
Every one of Lubavitch’s venerable educational institutions has its own unique flavor and “selling point.” Some yeshivahs are renowned as a place for serious young men who are self-motivated to grow in their learning, and others have a name as a place for students whose strong point is Mivtzoyim and other aspects of a well-rounded Chassidishe life.
Since its founding nearly 30 years ago, the Lubavitch Mesivta of Chicago has been generally known as a place for serious young men who were ready to take their learning and davening seriously. And there is indeed, much truth to this.
Yet, the Mesivta has many other facets to its program, including a widely regarded Mivtzoyim program, which brought the mitzvahs of the day to literally thousands of Jews on this past Purim.
And largely unknown even to local Chicagoans is the Mesivta’s musical program, which provides musical instruction and more.
At the communitywide Siyum Harambam earlier this month, the hundreds of attendees were enthralled as the Mesivta Band played a beautiful repertoire of melodies while their peers sang along.
Most recently, the students released a professionally produced rendition of Yaaleh with tenor Cantor Aryeh Leib Hurwitz, the first part of an album that will soon be released to the public.
