In honor of the Rebbe’s Chassuah, Cheder Lubavitch Chicago held a grand Avos U’Banim Melaveh Malkah in the school gym, followed by a delicious Melaveh Malkah, a stirring Seder Niggunim, screening a Connection Point Sicha, and concluding with a talented grand play by eighth grade.
This past Motzei Shabbos, Ohr L’Yud Daled Kislev—the auspicious date of the Rebbe and Rebbetzin’s wedding anniversary—Cheder Lubavitch Chicago held its grand annual Avos U’Banim Melaveh Malkah. Over 250 participants, fathers and sons, gathered in the school’s gym for a truly uplifting and memorable event.
The evening began with Avos U’Banim learning, as fathers and sons immersed themselves in learning Torah. In a heartwarming sight, the gym was transformed into a Zal with the sweet sound of Kol Torah from both father and son learning in unison.
Following the learning session, everyone enjoyed a delicious fleishige Seudas Melaveh Malkah. During the meal, they were privileged to hear words of Torah and inspiration. One of their seventh-grade talmidim, Mendel Brackman—who, together with his family, serves as the Rebbe’s shliach in Hyde Park—delivered a heartfelt Dvar Torah. Rabbi Michoel Lipsker, the sixth-grade Rebbe, shared a captivating story about the Shpoler Zeideh.
The Menahel, Rabbi Twersky, extended a warm welcome to all attendees, and the school’s Dean, Rabbi Yitzchok Wolf, offered divrei brachah. The gathering then joined in singing niggunim connected to Yud Daled Kislev, as well as those befitting the approaching days of Yud Tes Kislev, led by Rabbi Brodei (eighth-grade Rebbe) together with the gifted musician, Rabbi Yitzchak Zirkind.
Following the niggunim, participants watched a special “Connection Point” video in honor of Yud Tes Kislev and Chanukah. Fathers and sons filled out answer sheets, enabling them to be included in a special raffle. After Bentching together, the program concluded with the eighth-grade class’s grand play, which was enjoyed by all and left everyone feeling inspired and uplifted.
