An unusual post about Chabad tefillin stands in Eretz Yisroel sparked wide discussion across social media this week after activist Naor Narkis, known for his campaigns promoting secularization in the spirit of the Haskalah movement, published a satirical message claiming he had received a “ceasefire offer” from Chabad.

In his post, Narkis wrote:
“I received an offer for a ceasefire from Chabad. They committed to removing all tefillin stands from secular cities in exchange for stopping the ‘T’vuna’ booths. I will [however] continue until complete secularization.”

The satirical statement quickly drew reactions from Chabad chassidim, who rejected the idea outright.
“Chabad does not negotiate on spreading yiddishkeit – neither with ‘T’vuna’ nor with anyone else,” read one of the many responses. “Tefillin stands will continue to stand proudly in every city, run by the Rebbe’s shluchim and Chabad chassidim.”
