Yenny/El Ateneo is Argentina’s oldest and largest bookstore chain. They publish weekly charts of the top 10 bestselling books in their retail stores across the country. The newly released Spanish edition of Letters for Life, which articulates the Rebbe’s approach to emotional wellbeing, came in as #5 on the network’s bestseller list.
Seeing the wide resonance “Cartas para la Vida” has had with Spanish readers, the book is now being sold at airports and malls across Argentina.
This momentum follows the book launch on 4 Kislev 5786 (November 24 2025) at the historic El Ateneo auditorium. La Nación, one of Argentina’s leading newspapers, described Cartas para la Vida as “a work that offers tools for getting through difficult moments and for finding spiritual well-being,” noting that “prominent voices from literature, science, psychology, and spiritual leadership gathered for the presentation,” and that it “is based on the abundant correspondence the Rebbe maintained throughout his life with people who went through moments of anguish, loss, and confusion.”
The launch event featured speakers from the Jewish, literary, scientific, and mental-health worlds. Dr. Conrado Estol, one of Argentina’s leading neurologists, highlighted how many of the Rebbe’s insights anticipate today’s scientific understanding of mental and physical health. “The Rebbe emphasized routine, sleep, nutrition, optimism, and community support,” he said. “These are exactly the foundations that science now recognizes as essential for well-being.”
Rabbi Natan Grunblatt, who oversaw the Spanish edition, explained that “This is not a book only for people in crisis. It is a book for everyone. The Rebbe’s guidance speaks to every aspect of life.”
Psychologist Dr. Demián Goldstein spoke about the Rebbe’s ability to address deep emotional struggles with clarity and simplicity. Author Marcelo Birmajer reflected on the universality of the Rebbe’s message and the relevance of the book for readers from all backgrounds.
Rabbi Tzvi Grunblatt, director of Chabad of Argentina, shared a personal story of writing to the Rebbe as a teenager and receiving a handwritten reply within weeks. “That moment shaped my life,” he said. “It showed me who the Rebbe was — a global leader who still made time for a child’s letter. This is a book that young people, teachers, parents, leaders, grandparents should read. It’s not a book just for those who need it, it’s a book for everyone.”
