The directors of CGI Philadelphia announced that, in accordance with the state regulations, they will be opening this summer.

Over the weekend, Pennsylvania’s governor announced that the entire state will be entering the yellow phase as of June 5th. This includes the ability for day camps to open.

Guidelines were also released by the PA Dept. of Health how to operate a day camp safely nowadays.

In addition, Rabbi Zalman Gerber, the camp’s Executive Director, has been working nonstop with the American Camp Association, who has been working with the CDC, the EPA, the FDA, the JCC’s, the YMCA’s, and the Association of Camp Nurses, and they also released a set of guidelines on how to operate a day camp safely nowadays.

Rabbi Zalman & Miriam Gerber were sent by the Rebbe over 30 years ago to Philadelphia, and at the specific direction of the Rebbe bought a beautiful 10 acre campsite. They’ve been helping hundreds of children every summer ever since.

More than 30 years later, the Jewish Community of Philadelphia sees how the Rebbe’s vision has come into fruition, servicing thousands of children from various walks of life and backgrounds throughout the years.

“We are determined to make sure this summer is also terrific for children and staff” said Rabbi Zalman Gerber, “These kids need us and the Rebbe is relying on us to be there for them. If they needed us every other summer, then how much more so this summer! They’ve been cooped up at home and out of school for so long. The children need us for their emotional and physical wellbeing!”

With the big rush of enrollment coming in, the team at CGI Philadelphia still has staff positions available.
