As drone sirens pierced the skies over western Ukraine, staff and campers at Camp Yeka quickly and calmly made their way to bomb shelters, following the camp’s emergency protocols. This moment of alarm interrupted what has otherwise been a transformative summer experience for dozens of Jewish children from across Ukraine, many of whom come from communities still reeling from war.
“Our top priority is the safety and well-being of every camper and staff member,” said Rabbi Levi Berger, director of Camp Yeka. “Thanks to our devoted team and clear protocols, every child was brought to safety calmly and efficiently.” Despite the tension, programming continues, and the spirit of the camp remains strong. The resilience, warmth, and sense of family at Camp Yeka are more powerful than ever.
As security needs and operational costs rise, Camp Yeka urgently needs your support to continue providing this safe haven.
